Another PDP Governor involved in serious accident

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State was severely injured following an accident that occurred inside the Governor’s lodge in Asaba.

This news house gathered that Okowa sustained severe injuries to his head when he slipped and fell on the tiled floor.

Okowa fell and broke his head due to slippery tiles while preparing to attend the World Teachers’ Day in Asaba.

But the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, dismissed the rumour, saying it was not true that the governor was sick.

According to Aniagwu, “The governor has been attending to files and even up to the closing hours of work today (Monday).

“The report is not true.

“If you want to see the governor visit the Government House tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and I will take you to him.

“He only sustained an ignorable bruise on his hand. Deltans should not panic.

“The governor is fine and has been attending to visitors and files. He minuted some files to me today (Monday).

“How can a governor who is sick and flown abroad be attending to files inside Government House?”

The governor’s health was brought up as a prayer point at Monday’s thanksgiving mass to mark the beginning of the 2016/2017 legal year held at the Emmanuel the Saviour Catholic Church, Asaba.

Our correspondent learnt that Okowa had been receiving treatment from his personal doctor at the Governor’s Lodge since the incident.

There were also unconfirmed reports alleging that he had been reportedly flown abroad on Monday morning when doctors observed that his health had deteriorated.

A source, told our correspondent that the governor was still at the Governor’s Lodge and was responding to treatment.

“What I know is that the governor sustained a little injury when he mistakenly slipped on the tiles.

“The governor is in the state and recuperating. I’m sure he will be out in public soon,” the source said.
