DSS bust criminal gang that robs expatriates in Abuja

The Department of State Services has uncovered a criminal gang that rob foreigners that either visit or live in Abuja.

The members usually rob expatriates in hotels or other highbrow areas in Abuja metropolis.

The gang who robbed an expatriate and carted away his money and other valuables have however been arrested.

A statement by DSS’ spokesperson, Tony Opuiyo for the agency, said leaders of the gang members are cooling off in DSS cells.

The two leaders apprehended are Ikechukwu Obadiegwu and Ikechukwu Joseph Eke.

While Obadiegwu carried out surveillance on potential targets for the group, Eke masterminds the execution of the operation.

DSS said it has almost recovered all the stolen items.

In a related development, the DSS said it arrested a notorious fraudster at Gwaron Dutse, Kano State.

The fraudster was identified as Auwalu Abdullahi YAKASAI.

He was apprehended for allegedly defrauding Jaiz and Unity Banks of N100 Million and N50 Million respectively.

The Service also arrested one Bashir SHUAIBU, on 5 December 2016 at Tsamiya village, Gezawa LGA of Kano State.

Bashir was arrested for obtaining money from unsuspecting victims through threat messages.

He was arrested while in the process of defrauding another victim.
