New APC Senator from SE to replace Ekweremadu

Governor Rochas Okorocha has told Senator Ike Ekweremadu that he will lose his position as Deputy Senate President.

INEC has just concluded a rerun election which saw APC’s Benjamin Uwajumogu trump other contenders for the Okigwe Senatorial district.

According to Okorocha’s calculations, the deputy senate president’s seat was allocated to Igbos and Benjamin will become the only Igbo APC senator in the hallowed chamber.

According to Okorocha, “The position of Senator Ike Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President is at the moment under heavy threat.

“In no distant time the APC senator in-waiting from Imo State, Benjamin Uwajumogu, will take over the seat.

“This is on the grounds that it is an aberration that a PDP senator from the South-East is deputy to an APC Senate President because.

“Before now, APC could not produce a senator from the South-East zone.

“Senator Ekweremadu had known that such a development was not only feasible but inevitable.

“That was why he fully funded the candidate of the PDP in the re-run senatorial poll in Okigwe zone.

“Ekweremadu virtually relocated to the state three days to the election date,” Okorocha said.

Okorocha made the statement at victory party organized to celebrate APC’s victory in the rerun election.

“Anybody who is going to represent Okigwe zone in the senate will be representing a senatorial district rich in character and quality of men.

“I am aware our zone has great potentials that need to be nursed and harnessed.

“I have come with the experience, the capacity, the intellect, the political party advantage, humility and fear of God to solicit for a chance to harness all these resources for the betterment of the people of Okigwe zone and to the glory of God.
