The newest Governor in Nigeria, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, was sworn in three days ago.
Obaseki of APC beat PDP’s Izy Iyamu in a hotly contested election in Edo State.
Obaseki has begun doing the very opposite of what he originally told former Governor Adams Oshiomhole he would do if elected.
The first policy coming from Obaseki’s desk is reversal of feeding people in the government house.
The governor also reversed Oshiomhole’s largess of giving out freebies to visitors at the government house.
Obaseki noted that his administration would be radically different from the one experienced in the last four years.
The governor added that everyone must work to earn any benefit and move the state to its desired level.
He explained, “You will find out that our administration is going to be slightly different.
“It will be radically different, from the last four years and the reason is simple.
“In the last four years, we had to do a lot of politics because we had to recover our state from strange people forces.
“By the grace of God, we have recovered our state; it is now our state.
“But the problem we have is that we now have to get value for everything we have.
“There is no free lunch anymore; everybody must now work to earn. You must work to chop.”
“If you have been patient all these years, will you not give me 90 days?
“We want to change things radically.
“We have not less than half a million of young men and women between the ages of 19 and 35 who are doing nothing.
“So please, just be patient with me. We will get there and we will get there sooner than you think,” Obaseki said.
