The leadership of the PDP led Rivers state House of Assembly has refused to swear in one APC candidate who represents a Port Harcourt constituency.
Victoria Nyeshe was re-elected by the people of PHALGA I on the platform of the All progressives Congress, (APC).
While her colleagues have been sworn in for more than a year, honorable Viictoria Nyeshe has been shut out of Rivers Assembly.
Recall that the Appeal Court in Abuja had issued an order to INEC to issue her a certificate of return.
INEC has long issued her the certificate.
Unfortunately, the PDP led Rivers state House of Assembly has consistently flouted the order.
One Livingstone Nyeshe dragged Hon Victoria to court on the allegation that she used the letter headed paper of the Assembly to write a personal letter when she was yet to be sworn in as a lawmaker.
Because of that allegation, the Rivers State House of Assembly refused to swear in Honorable Victoria.
One activist, Comrade Christian Lekia, has called on the Assembly to consider Honorable Nyeshe’s constituents and do the needful.
“For the sake of the people who voted this woman, she must be sworn in to join her colleagues in the House.
“The people of PHALGA cannot be denied their right of enjoying good governance.
“Not swearing her in will amount to democratic injustice in PHALGA constituency 1.
“Democracy is about the interest of the people.
“Therefore, shutting her out of the Assembly will amount to a murder of democracy and promotion of impunity.
“There is no democracy that is healthy without a vibrant opposition.
“The voice of the opposition must be heard because we are running a one party state.
“I urge the appropriate authorities to commence the process of swearing in Hon Victoria Nyeshe”, Lekia said.
