Rotimi Amaechi: Army recovers DSP Alkali’s uniform

The Nigerian security operatives are on the heels of attackers of DSP Mohammed Alkali who was [neutralized] during the last Rivers State rerun elections.

A lot of fingers have been pointed in the direction of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s involvement in the saga.

It is widely speculated that the cultist who executed the plan works for Amaechi.

That speculation is yet to be verified.

However, the Nigerian Army has raided the cultists’ den and recovered items linking them to Alkali’s [neutralization].

The operation was carried out in four camps operated by cultists in Uju community, Ogba Egbema Ndoni LGA.

The Army recovered one AK-47 and uniforms belonging to DSP Mohammed Alkali and his police orderly.

General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Army, in PH, Maj. Gen. Kasimu Abdulkarim, made the revelations yesterday.

Kasimu said the operation was conducted in conjunction with men from the Special Boat Services/Air Component of Operation Delta Safe.

Recall that DSP Mohammed Alkali and his orderly were among 15 persons [neutralized] in the community.

General Kasimu told newsmen that some of the cultists may have been [neutralized] during the raid.

He said most of them jumped into the river while the operation was on.

Nine suspects were arrested and handed over to police for necessary action.

He gave a breakdown of weapons recovered during the raid to include “one AK-47 rifle, two G3 rifles, 5 double-barreled guns.

Others are 2 pistols, 31 empty AK-47 magazines, 242 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 322 rounds of other ammunition.

He said the clean-up operation will continue in the local government to completely rid the area of cultists.

General Kasimu further appealed for timely information from the public to aid the success of the clean-up.
