Last week, Emir Abdulmumini Usman of Katisna State was accused of marrying off a fourteen year old Habiba Isiyaku to one of his servants.
The 14 year old minor was forcefully taken from her Secondary School at Kudun Kankara, Kastina State by one Jamilu Lawal.
Reaacting to the minor’s forcefull wedding, the girl’s father, Mal. Tanko, stated that he had gone to the Emir’s palace (where the minor is being kept), to demand for her daughters release.
“On arrival at the Palace, the Emir informed me that my daughter has been converted from Christianity to Islam.
“He said, henceforth, there is no longer any relationship between me and my daughter and we can no longer inherit each other,” the girl’s father said.
Reacting to the incidence, Emir Sanusi Lamido of Kano State had called on Nigerian Muslim world to peg marriage age.
Following what seem to be a backlash on Emir Sanusi, the later seem to have back pedaled.
According to a statement released by the Sanusi’s spokesperson, Sanusi denied condemning his Katsina counterpart.
According to Sanusi’s spokesperson, “His Highness has no social media handles.
“Emir Sanusi does not even know about the issue of any teenager in Katsina or anywhere.
“The matter is a creation of mischief-makers aimed at causing disaffection between the royal houses.
“So this is not the first time they are targeting the revered Emir with mischievous and unfounded speculations,” Sanusi said.
The minor spoke before Meanwhile, the 14 years minor, Habiba Isiyaku, was summoned before a joint committee session with officials of Katsina Emirate, Katsina chapter of CAN, and the police.
The minor said “I took all decisions in my own volition.
“I chose on my own to become a Muslim and relocated to the emir’s palace.
“I did it because I was afraid of what I might go through and the threat coming from my parents.
