Political hawks who made a fortune visiting Aso Villa have completely disappeared from the presidential villa. The occurrence was a norm during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan.

Political watchers had thought President Buhari will do what other previous administrations do. The political millionaires stayed away for some weeks but on sensing the President’s body language, they stayed away completely. Thanks to a no nonsense president.

This developments have raised question amongst state house reporters. Speculations are that these political hangers-on are distancing themselves and their deeds from the president’s anti-corruption searchlight.

These influential Nigerians used to be frequent visitors of Goodluck Jonathan. They have since disappeared.

Femi Otedola: Femi is a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the Chairman of Forte Oil Plc and runs a coterie of businesses round the globe. Femi is yet to be sited in Aso villa.

Tony Elumelu: Tony is Chairman of Heirs Holdings and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation. He holds substantial shares in UBA. Recall that in the wake of Buhari’s tenure, Tony Elumelu, Jim Ovia and other business men attended a meeting uninvited in USA. Buhari turned, looked at them and said: “My friends, what are you doing here? Did I invite you people? You are not needed here. Godwin (CBN Governor), I know you brought them.” Shamefacedly, they gathered their folders and left the meeting.

Aliko Dangote: Dangote and his group of companies spread all over Africa including Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa, Togo, Tanzania, and Zambia. Dangote’s visit to the presidential villa has dwindled as he has been sighted once or twice in the presidential villa. This is in sharp contrast during Goodluck Jonathan’s regime.

Ifeanyi Ubah: Ubah is one controversial billionaire who never joked with his frequent visits to the Villa under Jonathan. Ubah was the fellow behind Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), which spear headed Jonathan’s 2015 presidential campaign. Currently, Ubah very scarce in the Villa.

But he was recently spotted in the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa at the end of Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari’s ‘The Essential of Beauty Therapy’ book launch.

Any reason can be adduced to why these and more billionaires have disappeared from Aso Villa. But we may not be wrong to assert that darkness cannot stand light.
