President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia has canceled the proposed visit of ECOWAS mediation team led by President Buhari.slated to hold tomorrow in Banjul, Gambia.

President Buhari, who leads the ECOWAS team, had made travel arrangements but for Jammeh’s sudden decision.

He canceled the proposed Wednesday meeting and shifted it to Friday.

President Buhari is mediating a peace deal with the former president of Ghana, Mr. John Mahama.

President Buhari called on Gambian leaders to do everything they can to douse the tension in the West African country.

PMB said ECOWAS is committed to resolving the political impasse with respect to the constitution of Gambia.

Jammeh had hoped to use the country’s Supreme Court to upturn Adama Barrow’s election.

The Supreme Court told him it could not resolve the matter due to a lack of judges.

“We can only hear this matter when we have a full bench of the Supreme Court,” Emmanuel Fagbenle, the court’s chief justice said Tuesday.
