President Muhammadu Buhari wrote the National Assembly, notifying them of his 10-day leave — without his wife, Aisha Buhari.
He also notified them of a temporary transfer of power to Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo.
Senate President Bukola Saraki read Mr. Buhari’s letter, also forwarded to the House of Representatives, on Thursday.
It is the third time Mr. Buhari will be transferring power to Mr. Osinbajo to act as president.
While the president is vacationing alone with his close aides, his wife was conspicuously absent from the picture.
The wife of the president has somewhat grown less vocal after she accused her husband of ignoring those who helped him to power.
In response, the president described his wife as belonging to his other room.
Recall that the whole episode played out while the president was on a state visit to Germany.
Well, while the president is cooling off in the United Kingdom, his wife was left alone in Aso Villa.
Aisha Buhari met with the wife of Bill Gates, Mrs. Melinda French Gates, the Co-chair of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Mrs. Gates paid her a visit at the State House, Thursday, January 19, 2017. This was as the President himself left the country.

Another source revealed to this news house that Mrs. Buhari only stayed back to receive the wife of Bill Gates.
Melinda Gates visited Aisha to wrap up support for implementing reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH).
On her own part, Aisha affirmed her commitment to continue to mobilize resources to improve the lives of women and children in Nigeria.
The meeting was attended by wives of the state governors and other relevant stakeholders.
