Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had launched a tirade against the paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.
Obasanjo pleaded with the Monarch to forgive him for the uncouth words he used on the Monarch.
Obasanjo had accused the traditional ruler of being a peddler of lies and a rumormonger.
This was contained in his letter dated December 30, 2016, and addressed to the monarch.
OBJ was responding to a publication credited to the Monarch where he alleged OBJ use EFCC to victimize people.
OBJ placed a phone call the Awujale on Thursday, January 5 to make peace with the Ijebu monarch.
A reliable source said, “Baba Obasanjo pleaded with the Awujale not to allow the media come in between them.”
Ironically, OBJ made the call on the same day his letter to the monarch was widely published.
After pleading with the monarch, OBJ then invited the monarch to the commissioning of a new mosque built in one of his houses.
“I overheard the Awujale expressing concern over what he would tell the media if they ask him some questions.
“Baba Obasanjo assured him that he would handle the media well that day”, the source added.
All efforts to speak with the two leaders on the matter failed while their aides were not forthcoming on inquiries.

Investigations by Saturday Vanguard revealed that the allegations that generated hot exchange between the two friends were a surprise.
Obasanjo actually went for the book launch where he was accused by the Ijebu Monarch.
The book, ‘Awujale: The Autobiography of Alaiyeluwa Oba S. K. Adetona, Ogbagba II’was written to mark the monarch’s 50th coronation anniversary at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
