Secretary-General of United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, has spoken favorably of President Buhari for his war against terrorism and corruption.
He also told Buhari that leaders across the world respect him for giving Nigeria a positive image.
The statement was made public by the President’s Media and Publicity adviser, Mr. Femi Adesina.
According to Adesina, Ban Ki-Moon told that “You are highly respected by world leaders, including myself. Your person has given your country a positive image.”
He said the United Nations recognizes the Buhari’s achievements in the war against insurgency, particularly Boko Haram.
He however urged that human rights be upheld so as to prevent a repeat of the scenario being witnessed in Syria.
Ban Ki-moon also thanked the Nigerian leader for his commitment to issues on climate change, adding that the government should “own the Sustainable Development Goals,” for the good of its citizens.
