Recall that the President had abruptly cancelled his broadly publicized clean-up campaign of Ogoni in Rivers State following a string of incessant oil spills in the region. That cancellation followed another cancellation of an official trip to Lagos State.

The People’s Democratic Party had alleged that PMB is seriously ill and is covering up his state of health from Nigerians.

The President’s kitchen cabinet has denied allegations of Buhari’s ill health stating that the President decided to shelve the Dakar trip because Nigerians now describe him as a globe trotter.

“The President cares about Nigerians and their feelings… He is a very sensitive leader. Because he didn’t make the Lagos and Rivers trips he is also shelving the Senegal trip so that he doesn’t seem insensitive to the issues plaguing the nation,” one presidential source said.
